This week we have…

August 26, 2016

We hope you’ve had a lovely week and that you’re looking forward to the bank holiday weekend.

We’ve had a fun and busy week here at nursery…

The children had a bit of an Olympic buzz and wanted to make gold medals, we use tissue paper to create our very own medals which the children proudly wore (you never know perhaps we have some future Olympians!?)

The children have been putting on some fantastic puppet shows and have enjoyed making us soup to eat while we watch them ( I did ask for ice cream but apparently you eat soup at a puppet show). They then made their own puppets and put on even more shows.

We have also been making paper aeroplanes, which we have decorated with tissue paper, some of them have been great at loop the loops, others have been great at nose dives!

On Wednesday it was very hot so we got the paddling pool out, this led to lots of splashing and giggling and a great time was had by all.

We have also had the water tray out and the children decided that our cuddly toy dogs and the dolls needed a wash. The dogs also got poorly, with ailments such as a thorn in the paw so they all had to become vets and bandage them up. You’ll be pleased to hear they are on the mend now :)

This week the children also helped me to write our shopping list, sounding out words such as “jam” and helping me with spellings.

We had a little trip to the park earlier on in the week where the children loved riding the roundabout and swinging high in to the sky on the swings.

There’s been a lot of excitement in nursery today as a little boy who is leaving us has bought a fun monkey chasing game! The children (and adults) have been chasing the monkey around nursery trying to put hoops on his tail and take a banana from his mouth. There has of course been lots of squealing and laughter.

We hope you’ve enjoyed reading a bit about your child’s week and just a reminder that we are not open on Bank Holiday Monday but reopen on Tuesday 30th August as normal.

This week we have…

August 19, 2016

Here’s a bit about what we’ve been up to…

We have been exploring paint in different ways. We have done some marble painting- moving marbles and paint around in a box to create marks, bubble painting- adding washing up liquid and blowing through a straw and also using rollers to apply paint. We have looked at how the colours have changed and how the marks at different depending on how we apply it.

We had a great trip out to find some leaves so that we could make bird wings. We found a selection and then when we got back we got creative and turned in to birds and butterflies! Whilst on our walk we stopped for snack and found our shadows. We enjoyed making our shadows make different shapes and do funny things!

In the garden we have been making lots of ice cream (with some very odd flavours). We have enjoyed serving broccoli ice cream with carrot sticks and cabbage slush puppies!

We have been practising our hand eye coordination and aim with a bean bag target game and seeing how far we can balance along beams and on stepping stones.

We have been looking at the letters in the alphabet and trying to sequence them in the correct order using our snake puzzle. We have been singing the ABC song lots and lots!

We have also had fun with threading, making pasta necklaces, bracelets and head bands. We used our fine motor skills to thread the pasta and our counting skills to count how many pieces we had threaded on.

We hope you have a lovely weekend :)
